_MACBETH

by William Shakespeare

directed by Mark Leipacher

"MY DEAREST PARTNER OF GREATNESS..."

Performed by two actors, Macbeth / Partners of Greatness presents Shakespeare’s play from the perspective of the Macbeths themselves.  Bound together by an unspeakable loss, the inseparable pair share their ambitions to take what they feel life owes them and experience the joy and terror of doing the unthinkable.

With a dynamic visual inventiveness and intelligent approach to text this is a raw, intimate and surprising portrayal of a famous partnership for first time audience members and seasoned theatregoers alike.

Our Macbeth is a dynamic portrayal of a partnership. As ensemble theatre-makers, partnership and collaboration has always been central to our ethos. Macbeth has gone through a “reverse casting process,” an experiment where the actors have cast themselves, creating their own pairings and presenting their casting, rather than a hierarchical director-led casting process. In the future, there will be multiple casts from within the ensemble, and we will extend this to our outreach and engagement workshops, and international productions.
