THE CHERRY ORCHARD PROJECT

We are thrilled to be working with the residents and surrounding communities of The Cherry Orchard Estate in our local area. Together we will be creating a site-specific performance that uses Chekhov's comedy play also called The Cherry Orchard to respond to themes of class, community, housing and family. This will be the first housing estate production of its kind.

Working alongside existing groups in the community, and getting to know people over the last year we want this to be a joyful, intergenerational process and we need you!

YOU DON’T HAVE TO ACT! (but great if you want to!) Are you interested in watching theatre? Music-making? Jam preserving? Spoken word? Painting? are you a whizz at D.I.Y? Make-up artistry? Social media? Tour guiding?

MEMORY LANE

We are collecting your stories from life in and around the estate. We have been talking to people who have lived on the estate for over 50 years and newcomers alike who have shared their stories. Memories are personal and might be from yesterday, or might be from many years ago. It might be about baking a cake, playing football, your neighbours karaoke or a bus ride into town. We only want to know what you want to share with us that gives a sense of life in the community. Messages shared through this form will be read carefully and respectfully and may inform the project - for example in writing or design. Contributions will be treated with care and used anonymously unless you tell us otherwise. We ask that you share a contact email so that we can keep you to do date.
